A Library for the Next Chapter

The Bigelow Free Public Library project is a visionary initiative to expand and modernize our cherished community library in Clinton. Fueled by a Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) Construction Assistance Grant, this project transforms a 20th century facility into a vibrant, accessible hub for learning, connection, and engagement.

Project Goals:

  • Expanded space & accessibility: Enhanced ADA-compliant facilities, flexible multipurpose rooms, and improved public gathering areas.

  • Enhanced collections & digital services: Accommodations for growing book, media, and digital resource collections, plus upgraded technology infrastructure.

  • Community-focused design: Thoughtfully redesigned to support children’s programming, teen study zones, and comfortable spaces for all age groups and abilities.

  • A sustainable future: Sustainable building practices and energy-efficient systems blended with the library’s historic charm.

This project preserves our library’s legacy while ensuring it remains a dynamic center for education, collaboration, and inspiration for generations to come.
